External Assessment Mount St Thomas Public School promotes many varied experiences in test situations as both a learning activity and a method of comparing school performance against an “external standard”. The school has been involved in University of N.S.W. Mathematics and English competitions over recent years. A high percentage of our students choose to complete this test. This year we had 85 children complete the English test and 92 children complete the Mathematics test. Our results have always been positive and compare favourably with state standards. |

BASIC SKILLS TEST The Basic Skills Tests occur annually and are a means of comparing students against cohorts across the State. All Year 3 and Year 5 students sit the tests. The students complete tests in Literacy, Numeracy and Writing. The tests are set and marked externally by the NSW Board of Studies and a detailed report is sent to the parents of all students who sit the test. In the Basic Skills Tests Mount St Thomas has consistently achieved levels equal to or better than the state average.
