Educating Others

With the introduction of the new environmental education policy, Mount St Thomas, as a lighthouse school, is a valuable tool in educating others. Wollongong City Council and Resource NSW have conducted in-services utilising our programs and environmental trail. We regularly run tours and create informative displays aimed at showing others a manageable school ecosystem. It's important that others know there is support available. Feel free to contact or visit us for more information.

"Environment Day"

In 2007 we held an Environment Day for the whole school involving rotating environmental activities, Tree and Weed Audit and "The Talking Tree" environmental play by the Wollongong Botanical Gardens.  This was a great education day with a lot of fun and activity.   See the Environment Day page here.

 ‘Envirofest Day’

In 2002, with the aim of spreading our environmental message to other schools, we held our first

Many organizations – Resource NSW, the Discovery Centre at the Botanic Gardens, Wollongong City Council, Papermill Action Community Team, Mt Kembla ECC and Care Design helped provide the 24 environmental workshops offered on the day.

Our thanks go to these experts and the Wollongong University students that assisted with the implementation of these activities.

Eight visiting schools took part in this exciting, fun-filled day. The primary children participated in 5 workshops that covered a range of environmental topics. The infants children rotated around 6 ‘stage 1’ activities.
