Sorry Day /Reconciliation Week Ceremony Sorry Day is a day to pause. A day to grieve together for the harm done, and to commit ourselves afresh to making things different. On 13th February, 2008 Prime Minister Kevin Rudd apologised to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on behalf of the government and the Australian people. In 2006 the Sorry Day Pledge Books were launched. The book offered an opportunity for Australians to reconfirm and further demonstrate their commitment towards reconciliation. Mount St Thomas Public School children and teachers commemorated Sorry Day 2009 by signing our own Pledge Book. We also unveiled our won Journey of Healing plaque that is placed in our Aboriginal Garden. The plaque represents the commitment of our school community to the journey of reconciliation.
