EMERGENCY EVACUATION POLICY
STATEMENT
RATIONALE:
To effectively and efficiently
respond to emergencies and disasters and to formulate procedures which
ensure maximum safety to all school community members.

Procedures are to be simple, in
written form, and are to be drilled to ensure smooth implementation.

Students, staff and others to be
confident with procedures.

GUIDELINES:
-
Warning bell needs to be
distinctive
-
Children are to be contained and
accounted for in designated areas
-
Copy of evacuation procedure to be
displayed in each class room and occupied areas around school
-
In authentic Emergency Evacuation
[not drill], District Superintendent to be notified immediately.

IMPLEMENTATION:
If an evacuation becomes necessary the following
procedures should be followed:
-
Emergency signal - continual use of bell [60
seconds]. Back up horns
in each building in case of electrical failure.

SASS Staff to phone:
-
Move classes out by nearest safe exit.
Class attendance lists to be taken.
-
Children assemble on basketball court - rolls
checked.

The following areas are to be checked by nominated
staff:

Southern Toilet Block – Mr Drew
-
Staffroom, Canteen, Library – Mr Tomlinson

Drummond – Mrs Clegg
-
Administration Block and Playroom – Mrs Buckley

Computer Room and
Northern Toilet Block – Mrs Thomas
EVACUATION DRILL:
1. Practice to take place during
each year in order to familiarise new pupils and teachers with routine.
2. Practice to take place at
discretion of Principal or organiser.
