ASSEMBLY POLICY STATEMENT
RATIONALE:
-
To provide a focal point for school programs.
-
To provide opportunity for celebration of
individual, group and whole school achievements.
-
To provide a forum for important whole school
messages/reports from principal, teachers, children and community.

OUTCOMES:
-
The development of school unity, pride and tone.
-
Foster self esteem and confidence.
-
Develop ideals of courtesy, self discipline and
citizenship.
-
Develop leadership and public speaking skills.
-
Opportunity for the whole school to meet K-6.
-
Provide effective communication between school
and community.

GUIDELINES:
-
The assemblies will be
child centred - “Of the children, by the children, for the
children”.
-
Merit Certificates and
awards should be sent to the office on Wednesday prior
to assembly.
-
Chairperson and
captain to organise
awards/items.
-
Parents and community welcome to attend all
assemblies.
IMPLEMENTATION:
-
Assemblies held weekly – Monday, 1.45pm
-
Assemblies to be chaired by a Year 6 pupil -
rostered rotation.
-
Presentation of reports on
various activities e.g. sport, dance,
public speaking etc.
-
Awards/birthdays/new enrolments/leavers/items
etc.
-
Weather permitting assemblies to be held in
outside assembly area.
-
Assemblies preceded by school pledge and
concluded with the National Anthem.
-
In wet weather, awards will
be presented to students in the classrooms on Thursday afternoon in
classrooms.
