MOUNT ST THOMAS PLAYGROUP

Being part of a playgroup can be a rewarding experience for both you and your child/children. We extend a special welcome to all 'new' mums, for we believe a child is never too young to join, as interaction with peers and good communication skills are an essential part of development for all children. It's also a great opportunity for parents to socialize or discuss any concerns or ideas they might have. This group is for 0 - 5 year olds and is run and organised by parents who strive to provide a safe and stimulating social environment for their children. Sessions are held at the school every Tuesday morning.

HOW TO JOIN

Joining Playgroup is easy! Every new member is entitled to two free visits to get you started. This provides the opportunity for you to come along and see for yourself how Playgroup is run, and decide if Playgroup is right for you and your child/children.

After these visits, if you decide to join our Playgroup, simply pay an annual membership fee which goes to the N.S.W. Playgroup Association. Part of this fee covers an Insurance Premium which protects Playgroup members in case of injury. Please don't hesitate to ask our Coordinator to further explain the Association to you and to inform you of the benefits you will receive when you join. The current membership fees are:

Term 1 and 2                       $25.00                         ($4.00 of this is zone fee)

If you join in:                        Term 3 and 4                       $19.00                        ($2.00 of this is zone fee)

Then, it is just $1.00 per session (per family) which pays for the ongoing costs of running the Playgroup. Fees are usually paid in advance every school term, although alternative methods of payment are easily obtainable. To organise weekly, fortnightly or other payments please discuss with the current treasurer, as she will help you to find the method of payment that best suits you.

Once you decide to join you will also need to bring in your child's immunisation records to be sighted by the treasurer to ensure every child's safety. To ensure your placement at Playgroup please notify a Committee member of any prolonged absences.

ACTIVITIES

Working on a roster, each mum takes a turn at organising a craft activity, and a morning tea once or twice a term. To ensure the playgroup runs smoothly we have developed a routine, which we try to stick to as much as possible. This simply ensures there is enough time for all of the activities available and provides some structure to our regime. Our routine is as follows:

FROM                           TO                               ACTIVITY

9.15AM                        9.45AM                        Craft

10.00AM                     10.20AM                       Morning Tea

10.20AM                     10.40AM                       Stories / music / free play

10.40AM                     1 1.00AM                      Circle Time

A copy of the routine is on the notice board for your convenience.

WHAT TO BRING

All you have to bring along each week is some morning tea for your child/children and don't forget a cup for your tea/coffee, which you place on the trays when you arrive.

PL AYGROUP RULES

  • Each parent is responsible for their own child/children.
